‘Israel’s indiscriminate bombing of Gaza, and the resulting decimated healthcare system in the Palestinian enclave, has led to around 6,000 amputations since the war began, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Around a quarter of the cases are children, making the war in Gaza the largest source of child amputees in modern history, according to the United Nations.’

Tree telling …

The city of Adelaide is ringed by parklands. Laid out in its original design they were to be ‘a place for everyone’. However, particularly in recent years, they are being whittled away by encroaching developments. One indicator is the destruction of trees and habitat: 585 trees have just been felled for the redevelopment of the North Adelaide golf course, 400 trees will have gone for the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital (built on the parklands!) and about 45 trees will be removed for the MotoGP circuit ….

The elephant in the baggage …

‘In a historic joint action, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), the Jewish Council of Australia, and the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC), have lodged a formal legal complaint to have Israeli President Isaac Herzog arrested or barred from entering Australia. The groups, represented by renowned barrister Robert Richter KC, allege that Herzog has incited genocide and aided and abetted war crimes, rendering him unfit to enter the country under Australian law.’
