I am a current student studying economics, and would love to understand more about your cartoons. I would greatly appreciate if you explained a bit about what you are critiquing and what the relevance of the ‘cost of living floaties’ are.
Thank you so much for your time!
Hi, my thinking was that while there were (and still are!) many real social/community issues in need of budget support, politics will promise a lot of glossy nothing much – especially at election time. In the cartoon I drew these budget promises as colourful inflatable floaties, something just enough to keep desperate people afloat until after the election – ‘time limit and conditions apply’. I hope that helps explain the cartoon!
Thank you for the explanation, I understand the cartoon now!
Oh, that’s great. So many cartoons refer to things at a particular moment in time. They go out of date quickly.
Go well with it all!
